Comedian Lisa Lampanelli is now one of my favorite entertainers since she stood down the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. The “Queen of Mean” turns out to be a hard core gay rights supporter, and when the Westboro crowd learned she was doing a show in the area, they threatened to turn out in force. This is the “church” whose members picket the funerals of gay victims of murder, or people who have died of AIDs, with signs like “God Hates Fags” and “Fags Doom Nations.”
No problem, Lampanelli announced. For every Westboroan that showed up to hassle her performance, she pledged to donate $1,000 to the Gay Men’s Health Crisis. When they did, Lampanelli counted the picketers and made an announcement to her cheering fans.
“These assholes have contributed to the Gay Men’s Health Crisis twenty thousand dollars!” the comic declared.
A later count found more. “Hey guys — Make that $50,000!!!” she tweeted. “WBC inbreds counted 48 protesters, so I won’t quibble. I’ll make it an even $50,000!!!”

Pandora has an awesome Lampanelli channel, which includes selections from her “Fag Whisperer” routine in the album The Queen. “Thank you homos for skipping a night of Bravo TV!” she declares in the opening to her adoring crowd.
“Oh my God,” she shouts, while looking at an African-American man in the audience. “This guy is so sexy. I would go down faster than Lehman Brothers.”
Last.fm has plenty of Lampanelli tracks. Among the most popular are “Bomb Ass Coochie” and “Hummers for Heroes.”
Lisa Lampanelli also has a great appearance on NPR’s “Wait, Don’t Tell Me.” The host asked her how she got into insult comedy. “I think it was twelve years of Catholic school and the weekly beatings,” she replied.
Then she was asked how she prepares for celebrity roasts like the one she did for Gene Simmons: “Well, first you sit down and create a list of everything that’s terrible about the person you are supposed to roast,” Lampanelli explained. “This year we did David Hasselhoff, so the list was endless.”
Last venue : Gen X Tulsa radio has an interview with her (starts with some comments about her dog), then on to the less than successful Donald Trump roast. “He has the comedic timing of a syphilis outbreak . . . what do you want?”
