Radio Africa host Ruhila Adatia-Sood was known as a “celebrity presenter” in Nairobi. Kenya’s “gossip girl,” others called her. A fixture on radio and TV outlets, she was hosting a cooking competition for children at the Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi when terrorists descended upon the area last Saturday, killing over sixty civilians and wounding many more.
Adatia-Sood, 31, could “feel the kicks of her unborn baby” as more than 30 kids followed her instructions. Suddenly, “we heard something that sounded like firecrackers,” recalled one of Ruhila’s colleagues at her huge funeral, attended by over 2,500 mourners. When the carnage ended, the popular presenter of India oriented “East FM” radio had perished.
You can still read her ID on her East FM presenter page: “Presenter by day & superhero in the evenings as I get you home despite the traffic mess. Believes there`s not enough reality TV, Farhan Akhtar is my hubby, DiCaprio is my iceberg. Always looking for my next meal.”
May you find that next meal in heaven, Ruhila. Rest in peace.
