The endlessly creative Spotify applications keep coming. The latest: Forgotify, which randomly streams long forgotten tracks, or, in my case, songs I don’t think I ever knew from the getgo.
Here’s what I got in 20 minutes or so of listening:
Mani Demon Chants, by Men of the Wilkili Village from the album “The Living, Dead and Dying: Music of the New Guinea Wape,” followed by . . .
Perchei Tu Non Vuoi, sung by Jula de Palma on the album “Vintage Vocal Jazz / Swing Nº26 – EPs Collectors “Parlando Al Buio,” then . . .
Jayammu Nischayammura, sung by Ghantasala on the album “Animuthyalu – Hits Of Ghantasala – Vol – 10,” next . . .
Hob Ich A Por Oksen (I Have A Pair of Oxen) by Mark Olf from the Folkways album “Jewish Folksongs, Vol. 1.” Moving right along . . .
Sound Boy, a song by Screwdriver on the album “Teach Dem,” and last but not least . . .
Tätowierter Taugenix, by Dimple Minds, a tune from their legendary (I guess) album “Durch und durch durch – live in Alzheim.”
You can share the tunes on Facebook as they come along on the web interface, or you can skip them. I couldn’t get the selections to stream automatically. Some of this stuff was pretty good. I feel a little embarrassed not knowing about it in the first place. On the other hand, maybe I did forget them. But, in any event, you know . . . New Music Discovery and all that. Enjoy!
