Sound artists with an interest in broadcasting and transmission arts have an opportunity to apply for a residency at the Wave Farm Study Center at community radio WGXC in New York’s Upper Hudson Valley. It’s really the only full-time radio station in the US (if not the world) that specifically focuses on creative and artistic approaches to broadcasting. So the ten-day residencies are a great chance for sound artists to focus on their craft in a uniquely supportive environment on 29 acres featuring forest, meadows and a pond.
The residency is principally focused on working artists with a significant body of transmission-based work or “a compelling argument in support of their future work within the transmission art genre.” The program has been running since 2005.
Jeff Kolar of Chicago-based Radius.fm was a resident in 2012. I interviewed him about his work in 2013.
You can read the full residency announcement here. Applications are due Feb. 1 at midnight.
