What a crazy few weeks of weather. I’m watching images of Hurricane Irma as I write this and my thoughts are with everyone in the Caribbean, Florida, and beyond. At this point, folks in Florida are making preparations for expected landfall somewhere on its shores. It has got to be terrifying to know that such a monster storm is coming.
I’m curious to know how college radio is responding, particularly since some campuses in Florida are in mandatory evacuation areas in the coming days, including Flagler College in St. Augustine (home of college radio station WFCF). On Wednesday, University of Miami’s college radio station WVUM posted to Twitter, “Due to storm concerns preventing DJs from making it to the studio, we’ll be airing WVUM throwbacks this week! Stay safe & keep it locked.”
Echoing that sentiment, stay safe all of my radio friends in the Hurricane zone.
