In the fall, I had a great visit to see college radio station WHPK at University of Chicago. The focus of my 143rd station tour report (posted this week); WHPK just celebrated its 50th anniversary of FM broadcasting, although radio history at University of Chicago stretches back further.
Chicago College Radio Tours
I feel lucky to have been able to visit a number of Chicago-area college radio stations in the past decade. With numerous college radio stations in the Chicago area (there are at least six more that I have yet to visit in Chicago alone), I still have a ways to go before I’ve seen every college radio station in Chicagoland. Here’s a quick recap of my Chicago-area college radio tours thus far:
Field Trip 7 – WNUR at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL
Field Trip 31 – WLUW at Loyola University in Chicago, IL
Field Trip 35 – Radio DePaul at DePaul University in Chicago, IL
Field Trip 42 – WZRD at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago
Field Trip 81 – WONC at North Central College, Naperville, IL
Field Trip 142 – WIIT, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL
Field Trip 143 – WHPK at University of Chicago, Chicago, IL
