“It quickly became obvious that the show we created wasn’t a good fit for KFOG,” declared KFOG Program Director Dennis Constantine on Wednesday. “So I am here to tell you that we made a mistake. KFOG is about taking risks, and on the downside, sometimes it doesn’t work out.”
As we reported, late last month the station replaced Bill Webster and “Irish Greg” McQuaid with a new KFOG in the Morning program with Greg Gory, Tony Longo, and Melanie Walker.
The new show was hugely panned by listeners.
“It’s been a challenging week of changes for KFOG’s morning show,” Constantine conceded. “I realize that KFOG in the Morning with Tony, Greg and Melanie is different than the show it followed.”
The new, new KFOG Morning Show consists of Tim Jeffreys (formerly of KFOX) and Gory, with Walker chiming in from time to time about entertainment news and such.
Checking in with KFOG’s Facebook page, I’m noting some positive feedback, or at least gratitude that the station PD is listening to the fans:
Okay – it’s not 100% great – it’s not Webster and Greg – but I’ll take Tim – he’s been a favorite of mine for many years. Still need to get rid of Melanie, though.
Thank goodness KFOG is smart enough to know that they have a loyal audiance and their audiance is smart enough to tell KFOG what they want.
Sorry for Tony, but thanks for getting rid of him. I stopped listening to KFOG in the morning until 10 oclock but just happened to still have you on my presets and clicked it on today. Where can I hear this announcement about the change?
Thanks, KFOG, for listening to us!
I cant believe I was lucky enough to hear a business make amends. I felt listened to ( funny radio pun) & respected as a “customer”; It made me hopeful. Integrity in action. Awesome. Inspiring!
Just goes to show that meeting your active listeners half way makes sense. Whether this new team will satisfy Fogheads in the long run is another matter.
