College Radio Watch: Station Tours, CBI Invites Production Award Submissions and More News

I can’t believe how many radio stations I visited in the last month. Thanks to the confluence of Spring Break, radio conferences, and other random business trips, I managed to see stations in Virginia, New York, and California in the past 30 days. And, yes, I’m tired. Unfortunately, it also means that my back log of write-ups is reaching mountainous proportions, thus my mad rush to get some tour reports posted in a more timely manner.

This week, I chronicled my recent visits to WCWM at the College of William and Mary (tour #127), Lehman College Underground Radio in the Bronx (tour #128) and WTJU at University of Virginia (tour #129). Since I still have a few lingering Philadelphia-area radio station visits, this morning I also posted my account from an October trip to see WNUW-LP at Neumann University (tour #130).

Getting out to visit radio stations is one of my favorite things to do, so I hope you enjoy these glimpses into the inner-workings of so many different college radio operations.

UCRN at KXLU

On Saturday, I had a great time at the Spring 2017 UCRN (University of California Radio Network) conference, hosted by KXLU in Los Angeles. The Loyola Marymount college radio station invited college radio stations from all over California to the confab, which featured panel discussions, station tours, and an outdoor lunch on the lawn of the beautiful campus. I hope to share more from the conference in an upcoming episode of the Radio Survivor Podcast.
